“The Arabs made a mistake”: In their Own Words

November 1, 2011

There is a Yiddish expression, “Az mir lebt derlebt min … if you live long enough you live to see everything.”  These two articles prove the point!

  • Abbas faults Arab refusal of 1947 U.N. Palestine plan: Arabs made a “mistake” by rejecting a 1947 U.N. proposal that would have created a Palestinian state alongside the nascent Israel, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said in an interview aired on Friday.
  • Israel and the Apartheid Slander: In this New York Times Op-Ed, Richard J. Goldstone states, “In Israel, there is no apartheid,” demonstrating how Israel’s Arab citizens live freely—and equally—alongside their Jewish neighbors, in stark contrast to the way black South Africans were treated by their government in the days of apartheid. A former justice of the South African Constitutional Court, Goldstone led the U.N. Human Rights Council’s fact-finding mission on the Gaza conflict of 2008-9, which produced what has come to be known as the Goldstone Report.
